$8.00 an hour

$8 an hour seems to be the magical number, eh? I worked for that amount of money more than 10 years ago. I find it really distressing that $8 an hour is still the going rate for all kinds of jobs. You name it, CSR, cafeteria worker, bindery worker, store clerk, technical support, cashier, factory workers, warehousing and shipping, delivery drivers, electronic assembly, retail, fast food. I even see those low wages for skilled labor and highly skilled labor. I hate to say it to you but do you really expect someone to climb up a ladder and work on top of your house for $8 an hour? Do you think the technical support specialist should be a highly trained and motivated individual available 24-7 to meet your computer problem needs for $8 an hour? Come on folks, I don't even get out of bed for less than $15. and as far as caring goes. I need to be paid at least $18 to give a f*ck. Realistically $20 an hour should be the minimum wage. Think of the quality of service you would receive and how happy everyone would be if minimum wage was $20 an hour. Crap man, everybody would want to go to work. Tons of money would be saved from wellfare. If folks could work for $20 an hour they would. But with things in the state they are currently in why bother going to work for $8 an hour when you could sit at home and receive wellfare instead. I am a painting contractor. I see ads all the time for people wanting their homes painted or repaired and I wonder what planet they are from because they seem to think someone is going to do that type of work for $8 an hour. Have you lost your mind?
